The Horizon Europe – Mediterranean Initiative II marked a major success with two well-attended webinars on June 10 and 11, drawing over 600 registered participants and more than 250 active attendees.
Opening remarks by Ms. Nienke Buisman (European Commission) highlighted the importance of science diplomacy and regional cooperation. Key presentations on “New Perspectives for EU-MED Cooperation” were delivered by Mr. Alessandro Calabrò and Ms. Heba Gaber, outlining Horizon Europe’s strategic vision for the Mediterranean.
Ahmed Maalel (EURAXESS Africa) showcased funding tools and guided participants through relevant call topics on the Funding & Tenders Portal.
A highlight of both sessions was the Testimonials by Scientists, with insights from active Horizon Europe participants, including Dorra Fiani, Zohra Merabet, and Moez Hanin.
The high engagement and active Q&A sessions reflect a strong and growing interest in EU–Mediterranean research collaboration, setting the stage for deeper cooperation under Horizon Europe.
