In early July, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the future set-up of European partnerships in the next Framework Programme. In detail, the initiative concerns the future Single Basic Act of Joint Undertakings, the operation of Article 185 initiatives, and the thematic priorities that will have to guide the portfolio of European partnerships in the next programming.
The contributions collected will support the Commission’s impact assessment and help define the future landscape of European research and innovation partnerships. Aimed at public administrations, universities, research institutions, businesses, SMEs, startups, and civil society organizations.
The initiative is of particular importance for the research and innovation community in the Mediterranean region as it also represents an opportunity to share experiences, identify priorities and highlight the role that long-term international cooperation can play in addressing shared challenges. Indeed, to address the Mediterranean region challenges, including water resilience, sustainable agriculture, food systems, and the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus, it is important to strengthen cooperation across countries, disciplines, and sectors, as well as sustained investment in research and innovation.
