On 8 September 2025, the European Commission and the Kingdom of Morocco successfully concluded the negotiations for Morocco’s extended participation in PRIMA, the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area, for the period 2025 to 2027.
The negotiations were concluded in Brussels by Ambassador Ahmed Reda Chami, Head of the Mission of the Kingdom of Morocco to the EU, and Nienke Buisman, Head of Unit for International Cooperation at DG RTD.
The renewed framework will allow Moroccan universities, research centres, higher-education institutions, foundations, and companies to take part in PRIMA calls and projects over the next three years. Morocco will contribute around €6.6 million, further consolidating its role as a committed partner. To date, the country has joined 132 of the 269 PRIMA projects, with €25.1 million already mobilised through joint European and Moroccan funding.
